LMMS: an AWS in 2020 without a basic drumkit? Why?

It's 2023 now, and I assume there have been significant updates and improvements since 2020. In the past three years, I hope that LMMS has made progress in addressing the concerns you raised.

There have.
LMMS is constantly evolving and expanding. There are however no change in how VST is supported in Linux, and none is scheduled.
Instead focus is on getting Lvl2 and VST3 in LMMS
The Orr poster did btw not 'raise any concern' the orr poster lowered the general bar of decency. That is different.
