S3 storage sounds like another viable solution. Now if only Kickstarter didn't have so many hoops to jump through... (Looking at other fundraising websites, however.) Torrenting is just a very attractive option.

I really wouldn't want to release them lossy. I feel that 16 bit WAV vs. 24 bit would be the absolute most I would do, if I were to sell higher quality samples. But that's not the idea behind the project.

As for multisampling - LMMS could really use a sampler for the SFZ 2.0 format. It's free, it's open, it's easily modifiable, and a lot more flexible as compared to soundfonts (velocity layer crossfades, LFO envelopes, round robin, and so on)
