thank you both,

yes I can add vibrato in effect-chain but not to the extent and naturalness the String Thing 2 does (when left alone).
and you made me cry mentioning Zynaddsubfx it is present in my lmms 1.1.3 on Debian 8 but just as a picture does not load its sound banks items.
if I didn't try a standalone Zynaddsubfx I'd never guess why it is present in lmms.
in mine, alas! it's only present.

..all those linux distros :[
But i must ask you:
If you load a zasfx preset from the sidebar, lets just take one specific:
zynAddSubFX/ Arpeggio/ 0001Arpeggio1.xiz
Does that load?
Does it make correct sounds?

OK thank you, musikbear
you as usual rubbed my nose
I kept loading zynAddSubFX from the left side instrument plugins and it was just a GUI not connected anywhere
but when, following your advice, I loaded a zynAddSubFX preset it worked very nicely.
thank you

Thats great! I am 'hacking' on a 'solution' that also will let linux-users make instrument-layers like:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ShfJ20uHOUs
and or deep edits in zynAddSubFX.
I should have a video up on the subject this weekend.
