Projects Won't Load VST

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
ChuensenMi3 wrote:Sorry, but now I have another question; I changed the file directory to point to a new folder I made which has all of the VST plugins, and so VeSTige is able to see the plugins as instruments again.
So you can now locate your VSTs? Good!

ChuensenMi3 wrote:Now, though, when upon loading my songs, the individual instruments have difficulty locating those folders.
Well they should not. There is not a single path in a song-disk-file.
All paths are set in Settings, and all disk-files relies on those settings.
What i suspect is that you have discrepancies between your current chosen Settings, and the dotfile.

.lmmsrc.xml

This dot-file is important!
I advice you to follow the steps here
https://lmms.io/wiki/index.php?title=LM ... h_Settings
aka. move and restart LMMS.
I would apreciate if you could tell me how this went :)
Depending on the number of instruments that are messed up, you probably want to export the project as an mmp file and replace the DLL paths with the new ones. To do this, click Save As, and at the end of the file name type ".mmp". Edit it with a text editor and fix the paths manually. It's a painful process, but it should help fix all of the paths.

So as I was following the steps you provided, I searched my computer for the dot-file .lmmsrc.xml and I found results for two .lmmsrc files but not any with the last dot and extension. Is this bad?

Hi Are you the next one that has issues on startup?
*sigh*

please post your:
* OS (+service-pack-ver)
* lmms vers
* lmms sound device chosen
* if any -screenshots of error

You wont see the whole filename, if you do not have windows set-up to allow it, and im almost sure that is the reason for not seeing .extention-type

But lets take it step by step :)

To see the .xml part open File Explorer, select the View tab then tick the box next to "File name extensions".

Yeah...well, all of the VST plugins in all of my songs are messed up, I'm not sure why. I did a bit of what you explained here, but I was a little confused as what to do with the text editor. I exported one of my tracks as .mmp; are you saying I should open the exported track with the text editor, or something else?
An mmp is a file in the format XML
You need an un-formatting editor to make edits. Eg, something like word will not work!
The best is a real code-editor, with syntax colouration. you can find several free, but even online is available.

I need to see one of the faulty projects (mmp) in order to pin point the actual line of xml-code. You can send me an im

Okay, so I have Notepad++, I've used it before in my computer programming class. And I understand you want a picture, however the text file of the project is pretty lengthy. Would it not be better to send it as is for you to analyze?

Yes! that was actually what i meant :)
Send me a link here in IM to a upload-site, where i can dl the mmp
So I've uploaded the file to my OneDrive, however I'm not sure how I can give you the link. I guess I could share it with you, if you had a OneDrive account as well. But I'm not sure...

Let me know if you have one, and I'll try and share it with you. Sorry! This is the only way I can think of uploading a file online.
