Yes, exactly. In the interest of creating shareable, modifiable work. Many people license their samples "no modification/redistribution". I think this to be absurd and it makes collabs very difficult, not all do, but a good many do. I want the HA samples to be able to be shared and modified and such. But in order to do that, I have to make sure that the copyright owners are OK with that.slipstick wrote: I think the idea is that you can use any synth and effects you like to produce samples, loops etc. from scratch. Ah, foley sounds. I quite enjoy recording those. You may not think of them as useful, but if you listen to music like Propaganda's "Excellent" you can hear them put to quite good use.slipstick wrote: Personally I use very few samples and most of the ones I use are made by me, recording a sound (car revving, banging things, blowing kid's whistle etc) and then playing around with it. But I'm not sure they would be of much use to anyone else.

Lastly, I recognize the peril of releasing presets. I hope to release "dry" content. Meaning, you've got to EQ it, and add reverb , etc.to make it sound how you want. Also means you have the freedom to manipulate the sample how you want. (unlike some I've gotten). Also, modifying presets can produce new, different sounds. Some people don't quite yet have the sound design chops, and modifying presets is a good way to start
