To name a few, OpenSUSE mommy is slackware.
Ubuntu and mint have debian as their mommy.
Arch comes from crux.
All have gnu linux as origin.
Although Ubuntu comes from debian, not all programs for ubuntu will work on debian.
You can always try to compile lmms youre self, have you ever compiled a program youre self?
The only other option you have, as mentioned before, tell the package guys from youre distro, lmms is not working right.
