Fun memories, Radio Decibel and W.A.P.S

Wave Amsterdam Power Station. In one famous broadcast they were life broadcasting, how a dutch organization, controlling the ether, was climbing up a tower or something, to take down their antenna.

When you mentioned pirate radio stations, I did some research to find out about them.
It was an interesting read. :)

And from further reading, it seems that those pirate radio stations (arrrrr matey! 8-) )
were apparently, hacking into the radio transmission signals and stealing their listeners too. Lol. :D
That must have angered, alot of so called legit, radio stations. He! He!

Over here ( the Netherlands) pirate stations that did interfere with regular stations were taken of air quite fast.

Decibel ones changed there frequency, to not interfere with regular stations.

Still all regular stations did loose listeners, because the pirate stations played what the listeners wanted to hear.
For Decibel and WAPS, dance music, and rap. I am not sure if the term hip hop was used already.

The sound is very bad, but here is a nice example. Decibel was broadcasting life from a park.
How an illegal radio station can broadcast life from a park ? Well remember this is (was) the Netherlands.
Yes it was illegal but they did not harm anybody, so they were not taking down that much.
They also had commercials. ( sponsors ) Some I can still quote literately.

Some I do recognize
Disco / Funk / and prob the start of house music.

Valerie dore hold the nite
Karen young Hot Shot.
Locomotion - omd

This sound is also not good, but at least not as bad as in the first vid.

I still cant sit still listening to it. ( should I cover this in LMMS ? :P )

This pirate station is alive again, but in a legal form this time around.
They play music form the good old days, when they were a pirate station, and today's music.
