I know how this came to live but my baseline is 0101 LOL
Okey! Yes, that would be a wrong pos. The notes you have 'ON' in 0101 are actually called 'least-important-notes', in classical sense, and they are not good at keeping a beat.
Thank you, you saved the kick :)
I am very happy with this step forward.

The track now has more of a trance feel, but I am also afraid I still got a lot of work to do.

I have made a reggae track, but mess up with an off beat track in trance track lol.

Its prob best if I study a few more drums vids, and read the lmms wiki again.

I am still lost on the basics.
kick 1000 1000 1000

And I am lost on what to do with the hats and snares.

Been reading multiple sites, but it still has not really sunk in.

I think I am gonna look for a site explaining the difference in the boom clap, between disco, trance house, hip hop and reggae.
But the wiki has really good pages (?)
Here
http://lmms.io/wiki/index.php?title=You ... n_examples

..but i have to admit, that these patterns properly should be moved from the current pages, to the more general pages. They are currently in the 'my first song' section. Gues i have to do something about that :P
The wiki is fine. :)

My frustration is about not getting the relation between the bass line and percussion, not having the slightest clue why disco is not trance.

Well I do have some clues, but you prob get my point.

My biggest struggle is to make a bridge still, between what I hear when I listenen to music, and how that would look in a daw.
Melody wise I have come a long way already, but percussion wise grrrr :x

Almost feels like starting all over again.

On the bright site, from these periods of frustration usual comes progress.

Thats the right spirit!

Keep it going Gps. 8-)
And don't forget, that you made a good trance track called Into Space.
Use that as motivation. 8-)
Lets start by saying, I am happy with how the track sounds right now. If its the type of trance I wanted to make ? Close but no sigar yet.

Bass line is now offbeat and that was a big step forward, not just because it saved the kicks. :P

After thinking about this for days, and musicbears vid some how bugging me, and listening to disco, I started to see the light.

The bassline, and lets call it the relative speed to the drums, and if the follow the drums for 100% or ...

The difference between disco and Trance hmmm.
To some extent there is no difference. Kick clap kick clap, although todays EDM is off course at higher BPM.

The bass line however is some what different. Music bears bassline is not disco. It does not follow precise enough the drums.

After some testing in lmms, that seems to be how ever the type of base line I need. An irregular one ?

Hard to put to words, but I think you guys will understand me.

Maybe a nice example why the difference between disco and trance was bugging me.
Disco
Imagtination - Body Talk
To me, and I am serious for some part, if we crank up the bpm we have modern day dance music
( think away the singing, but the rest of it at 130 - 140 bpm :P )
Those violin like ? synth sounds :D

If the guy was not singing I might like some parts even more,

Edit:

For now I have doubled the number of bassnotes,
Also did some testing with an more irregular pattern. That sounded interesting enough to spent more time on.
Wow! This is disco? :o
This sounds really different to 70's disco music.
It kinda sounds a bit like 80's pop music to me. 8-)
Interesting song.

I agree.
Did the guy have to sing? Lol!

nope Funk-pop!
Well funk and disco are really close, but funk lean towards jazz. Lots of stuff from jacson5 is pure func, but otherwise..
The track here is funk-pop, and leans toward ..crap :D

The thing is that 'Disco', well that was the music played at Discotheques, and pure disco like BGs or perhaps amy stewart (knock on wood) Donna S and so so on, was mixed with serious func/ jazz, and everything was just 'disco' in the same that 'our' everything is EDM :D
In the video it separates itself from trance after 0:18.
But how does it sound at 140 .. well

Besides its mickey and mices the thing here is that the song is 'all over' It 'fluctuates' over several octaves, and trance does not do that. They are imo very different

And also (imo) this is more disco:

and one good one

with a smile
@ Brandy Funk is another thing to make things more complicated. House comes though, from the more funk like disco.

As to be seen in that house documentary.

Some funk mix, and the first song, is a nice example of the jazz influence musicbear is talking about. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gc1mfK6rpH8

LMAO @ body talk at 140bpm. I have to admit it sounds less like modern edm then I had imagined

But if we posting disco classics how can you forget about Spank - jimmy Bo Horne ?
( although this prob is again more funk like)
