Trance trouble

Started something new, and tried to use what I learned from this topic. ( and watched the music hacker vid about trance again )

In LMMS made a simple syncopated melody,
Then I made a bassline by filling in the pauses. ( in the lower part of the melody )
Adding a swelling saw.
Adding a choir track.
BAM instant Trance LOL.

Then I went overboard and added the kicker on every 1 count and of course a hat on 1 and 3.

Its so damn simple, but it took me quite sometime to get it.

For me the progress is mostly about how something I hear, looks in a daw.

I think I finally found the right sound for the type of trance I am after.

Never give up never surrender.
( Funny how some of the notes sound so bad, Although I am 100% sure they are in tune, but thats easy enough to fix.
Hi Gps. :)
This is an interesting trance test wip.

Note: The melody should be a slight bit stronger in loudness, because the (saw pad?) drowns it out a bit. :D

"But then again, it's a Test wip. So I shall not criticise. He! He!" :P

Nice choir. :D

Good thing you revisited, that music hacker trance tut again.
That tut always comes in handy.
And you end up learning alot of new stuff too. :)
Only thing is the percussion.
iF you follow std, then the loudest element not only in percussion, but general, should be the kick!
If you enhance you kick, bring the hats down a bit, and listen again, it will be even more trance. The kick is the heart in the trance body :)
Or you could just say you've invented a new genre "SoftKick Trance". It's quite interesting to hear an obviously trancey track but with percussion right down in the mix instead of the usual.

Sounds good to me but I know nothing about Trance. I haven't got past ambient and experimental yet.

Steve
I cant tell you guys how happy I am, I finally start to understand at least trance, but I am pretty sure that what I learned in this topic will help me with other genres too. ( I am starting to see the light on bass lines, and part of me is still in shock how much influence a bass line has to a track)

We agree the percussion needs work, and prob that swelling saw, but I made this in maybe 40 min. After all the frustration that was a pleasant thing,
I will turn this into a finished track, but for now very happy I finally got the basics down.

LOL at new genre. :)

For now back to finishing that other track, that never turned into something I had in mind, but I like it enough to Finnish it.

That is so true. :)

Soft kick trance.
There were one or two trance tracks that I heard, that had a softish, yet sifting drum sound used in them.
In certain Trance songs, they actually sound better than harder drums. :)
They was really interesting to hear too.
I'll post links to a few, if i find them.
Specially for you guys :P

In a way this makes me quite happy, mostly because of the sound I am starting to get out of LMMS
E.Q on master channel, bass-booster and an amplifier on the ZynaddsubFX bass, and a bass-booster on the percussion channel.
Reverb on the hi hats.

Good moment to thank you guys for the help, not just in this topic. Feels like a lot of pieces have fallen into place.

Now I still have to finish that other one first. Looking for motivation to finish it but I will.
This sounds really good.
And proves, that you have improved much. 8-)

The only thing missing, is the rising build up effect, (normally followed with a drum roll), into a more exciting continuation of the repeating melody.
And the pad sound, should build up and get a tad bit louder, after a while.

But then again, forget what I said, it sounds really good. :)
I really enjoyed listening to it.
Good work dude. Big improvement. 8-)
Good. If you want to finish the wip and added a suspence breakdown and then really made it culminate in a huge buildup with a euphoria part, then you have a whole track. The wibe is great.
