Thanks in advance. :)

I am already happy, I am going to understand what I am doing wrong, when creating noise.

My music skills proof, I cant rely on just my ears.

I have been reading allot of music pages, but none of those pages explains anything about my problems in lmms.
And before somebody who just reads this reply, jumps to conclusions, the problem is not lmms.

Slightly of topic, I noticed LMMS can do 5/4.

So if I get ever get bored, I can always try to do. Dave Brubeck - Take Five

I do understand 5/4, but I better first learn how to stay in key / tune / scale. :P

Thank you very much, this is really helping me.

I do how ever have allot less time to produce music.

I once again have a job. Very happy about that of course, but it does take away allot of free time.

Small update.

I have been messing with my notes.

Before when I just copy pasted, and if wanted to go a bit up or down , I only had my ears to trust.
This topic proof I need more.

The scales are helping big time.

I first had set the scale to minor and tried getting it right.

Gave up after a while, and tried tried majeur. That worked.

Its not that easy, but I am getting used to it.
The paterns. You need to pay attention, when you copy / move a group of notes up and down

I am very thankfull for the explantion in this topic. :)

Even to me ;) the song starts to sound much better. Its allot harder to copy paste it you have to pay attention, were you paste

I still seems to have an issue with with I call the sub leads, but making progress.

After getting totally frustrated, I have decided to give it another try.
I got frustrated because I could not find what is wrong with my sub leads.
But my ears told it was wrong, because the song sounds awful to me.

This has been bugging me for months, but I think I have seen the light.

I used multiple examples to make my popcorn song.
I have also watched a lot of synthesia vids.

If the main lead goes up or down a note, the sub lead must kind of follow.
That is definitely not the case with my song.

 never give up never surrender ?

Please, start linking to stuff from the wiki for 1.0 series: http://lmms.sourceforge.net/wiki/index. ... _with_LMMS
Its much more accurate, and I also added some example drumbeats for beginners :)

Hi... I thought you guys might like to check this out:

On the WFMU blog: 79 Versions of Popcorn 8-)

You may be surprised as to what you find there!

I know its frustrating, but ear training can be learned. However if you're interested: Oliver Sacks - Musicophilia - Amusia. Robin Williams (RIP) was a good friend of Mr. Sacks.

Happy hunting,
Brad

I might just need music lessons.

And for reason I don't comprehend yet, when I take a you tube synthesia vid, and put it in lmms, it sounds awefull.

Maybe this has to do, with the green button on the synths ? I noticed most of my pop corn tracks to be in keys not even close to the position of that green button ( above the keyoard keys of the synths in lmms)

And I am pretty sure I do not play in key, because I cant find it, and or do not understand it enough.

Does anybody know good free, or cheap online music (keyboard) lessons ?

I do have lmms and an simple midi keyboard, which should be enough to get me started.
