I just spent about 30 minutes writing feedback for everyone on this thread so far and when I hit submit the forum took me to a login screen because apparently I took too long and my session expired. Uh, that's a load of junk and should be fixed. I'm sorry, but I don't have the time to do that again. TL;DR They are all good, a couple have the snare mixed too low, and Tanner's thing sounded fine to me. I suck at telling what I like about stuff since I am critically minded. It's faster to point out errors as they say.

I do individual indexing per group in the song editor and overall group indexing in the mixer in order to keep a clean mixer. I usually do post production and mastering in FL Studio, but this time I did it in LMMS since that is the trend. I like using C* plugins for their undeniable simplicity (which also means less bugs like some of the other plugins).

I downloaded and inspected the project file to see how you mixed it. It's a lot more complicated than my mix. Here's a few questions and comments on it.

I'm wondering what FX channel 2 is for. It has a peak controller on it but no tracks are connected to it. There's also a channel labelled PreMaster with an untouched C* EQ. How did you use this track?
The delay effect on the bubble and laser tracks is a cool idea.
Did you mean to make the bass instruments nearly inaudible by running it through the DJ EQ effect with Lo Gain turned down 70 dB? If so, was that to make room for the drums?

Channel 2 is my sidechain controller channel. Any sound run through it will trigger the peak controller. Channel 4 is sent to channel 2, so that the kicks will trigger the sidechain. Premaster is where I add any effects before the master. Typically I don't do mastering in LMMS, so in a typical project the premaster channel contains my final EQ and compressors in case I want to spot check mastering in the master channel, like I did in this project. I simply didn't feel the need to do much with it, so it's mainly there as a habit. The bass instruments are run through channel 7 with the DJ EQ as a lowpass sidechain. Normally I use the sidechain compressor, but I only wanted to cut the low frequencies from the bass channel. In FL I typically use a multiband compressor but I absolutely hate most of the plugins in LMMS due to bugs and lack of audio signal quality + unpredicable results. So I used a simple 3 band EQ to cut the bass. If it isn't moving when you play the track, the connection between the peak controller and the lo gain knob might have broken. You guessed the reason though, to make room for the drums as I mixed the drums heavy. I posted a soundcloud link to the song as rendered from my pc in case the project file broke or didn't transfer well

Edit: So I looked back at my project and apparently I forgot to route the Bass and FX channels through the PreMaster channel. It was late, eheh

I have found a solution for this (firefox on Linux, but I suspect this to work on windows just the same)

When it wants me to login when I click submit, I hit the back button.

Then I copy my answer, then again click submit, log in again, and paste.

What a shame. I hate those kind of mishaps, and i have had my share.. ..like a +2 hour session on the wiki ..psst gone ://
For that reason i actually almost never uses the internet to write something lengthy directly. I just write in openOffice and copy paste to the forum (Better save than really sorry:)

I usually use FL Studio. For this project I used LMMS, the attached render is straight from LMMS.

I started that group
I noticed that a lot of the stuff posted to the main LMMS group was... for lack of polite or better words, basic. So I created a moderated group where myself and a few other Avelocity members screen submitted tracks. It's a little subjective as we have our own music tastes, but we have a good idea of what typical LMMS presets vs effort vs production quality is, etc. Feel free to message people, but some rarely use soundcloud, just a heads up.

The sound quality however, is what caught my ear.

I don't want to offend anybody so lets take my own project as an example. They don't sound that good.

That does not surprise me, I know I have still a lot to learn.

I have already heard tracks on the regular lmms group too, that sound much better then mine.

Does anyone want to post the next small project (short loop) for others (including me) to mix? If that project is already mixed, unmix it before posting. Any genre will do, as long as there are mixing options available.

Chiptune or 8=bit music is appealing to certain fans, which is why I make it.
