It might be time to continue with this Track.

I have not heard it in a while, I have almost forgotten how frustrated I got ( again lol )

But as before, from frustration comes progress.

I still have Much to learn, but I am starting to understand (hear) how a melody bassline and drums work together.

Making great progress.

Been doing a lot of mixing, but more important added an off beat sound also playing the bassline.

Deleted a bassbooster, did some low end cutting, reinserted a default sound on the triple os, changed the sound of the bassline and by doing so managed to get rit of of some irritating low end distortion.

Deleted one part, now its down to 8 m. ( from 10 )

Now its time to come back to the feedback from Musicbear in this topic, about the transitions.

Listened to some trance and noticed that they often go a key up and then back down to the previous key. ( at the start of a loop )
If I do something like that, it might solve another problem. Instruments drowning, when the notes go up.
I hope I wont end up with even more automation, were I have to set the volume for each note on some synths.
(one volume for C and one for D and so on)

That's one of the best way to do it. Especially if it's a looping melody.

As certain notes go higher, they automatically get louder.
So automate the synths volume/synths FX channel volume, to reduce the volume as the notes get higher.
Then, put another small bar/block automation after it, that immediately goes back to your original default volume.
It's kinda like the sensors and triggers tricks, in game designing.

Or, go in the piano roll and reduce the volume of the notes, that go higher. (Also works well, if the melody is looping.)

Maybe the Beat and Bass editor might help here, for looping melodies, or melodies that have notes, that go higher.

But I agree, automating can be really tiring sometimes.

I am not a big fan of the BBE, I am already adding more automation.

For one syth, I have the volume go up when the notes go up.

Its almost bizar, It starts at c then to d and instantly one synth almost goes missing, but when the notes go up more that synth returns.
It seems to play a softer D then other synth. ( or the other synth play a louder D )

Often this happens when the RESO is a bit high.
Resonance is about frequency that is enhanced. If that freq starts to overlap with the tone freq, then you have a wave 'raise'. In sound you get loud, ( in the sea, you get a monster-wave!

Some times i 'just' omit that single note on that octave, otherwise the reso need to go down a notch, but that may take the quality away from the preset, or you can try a different octave

For now with automation it seems kinda fixed.
The effect is not totally gone, but it might be a good idea to not to try to make it prefect.
The more I understand music, the more I see ( hear ) we in general don't like perfect music.

I don't have a clue what going on with the drums.
The song is one of my all time favorites though.
I love those drums and synths, on and off beat would be my first guess. ?

It should be a great learning thingy. This song is also a good example of my struggle.
I can tap along with this beat no sweat, but I get totally lost when I wonder how this would look in a daw.

Were the fuck is the 1 of the 1 2 3 4 in this song.

Prob my midi controller can help me there.

While tapping along and listening, to sound and vision, there seems to be a pause interesting.
Funny how I automatically do this when tapping, but still am lost on how this works in a daw.

I changed the lead bell sound. I liked it, from the start, but also hated from the start, how it did not blend in in.

I think I am happy with the (broken) foghorn, I think it fits the track

If that is the fog horn sound, I think it should be a tiny bit louder. Like 2% louder. Not too loud though. Ha! Ha!
But, if you're using the foghorn, as a background filler sound, then the lowish volume, is a good idea.

The problem I am having, I want that sound louder but as soon as I turn it up more, it gets too overwhelming.

Like somebody is pressing a fog horn, while you're listening to music.
It distracts too much.

Maybe there is too much attack and such. But if I turn those down, it does not sound anymore like a horn.
Which makes sense to me, but does not help me getting closer to a solution.
