Time to watch that vid again. I remember watching and wanted to try it for my next track.

Not sure if sequential fits that profile, but the time seems right.

Really happy with the progress I am still making. Slowly starting to hear and recognize how the bass, drums and melody intertwine. ( In any pop song)

Trance: beeb beep beep over strings and 4 on the floor with an off beat bass and syncopation.

For moths it has been bothering me. Thinking trance, starting lmms and ending up with something not trance.
I Like sequential for what it is, but today already started on some thing new.

I think I finally know in what direction to go. A short repetitive theme ( beep beep beep ) on a chord progression.
How short ? As it long as it takes 4 to the floor at 140 bpm for 60 % of the tracks? Then this times 8 or 16 with a change of key, and or a mild variation.

Or is it beep bap beep bap beep bap ?

I was already messing with 4 notes, arpeggio on it, and messing with the time and the gate.

Most or all of the help from this topic falling into place.

There is also that tip from Brandy about that stutter sound in Trance. For Synth 1, one of the lfo, the distance setting.

Edit: Techno Trance is def the type of trance I love.

The original has an very annoying sound after 2.08
They should kill the guy how ever who thought it was a nice idea to have that annoying sound at 2.08.

Stutter sound? Are you referring to the cool trance gate sound?

Oooo Gating!
You can use one of the gating-waveforms, and insert it as a user-profile on presets, that has LFO-tabsm (all except those made on VST-stubs or real VSTs)
The place for the wave-form is the question-mark, just insert the pattern and you have gating.
MANY VSTs comes with a gater, where you can set advanced gating-patterns.
Oatmel for one, but not Synth1 :/

Most important, you can find trance-gate-VST
That will allow you to define any gating on any preset, but its does like the cpu...

Interesting, I will try that vst. I once tried the alha force t1 trance gate, but that one does not work right on linux.

Latest attempt at making trance, I think I Finally did it. ( still needs a lot of work, I am not happy yet with the sounds I use.

This last remark might need some explaining.

I have been listening to a lot of (different trance styles) and I wonder if I am, a real trance fan.
There is trance I really like, but also a lot I do not like.

I am for some part stuck / confused.

I really like the off beat synth 1 arpeggio.

When I leave out the fast bells it sounds much more (acid) trance to me ?
Is it just me or does this proof the fast bell melody not to be a real trance melody ?

The bass line is the one from the musicbear vid, it needs work, but for now that's not the thing bothering me.
