I think he said "rigid" 4ths i.e. proper 4ths but it might have been "bridged" because that's what he then played i.e. one finger "bridging" 2 strings to play a 4th interval.

And the usual wrongness I've heard is playing it in 5ths (power chords) instead of 4ths. Not correct but 5ths do actually sound pretty good too.

But I can't work out why talking about funk reminds you of that riff, probably the least funky in the history of music ;).

Steve
LOL at least funky rift in history.

I will admit, that although some people claim its not possible, I do like funk, disco soul, and some (hard)rock/ punk music.

In general I am more into boom clap music, but Ozzie singing: people think I am insane because I frowning all the time, makes me very happy too.

For those that do not recognize that lyrics instantly:
Black Sabbath Paranoid.

Its one of my all time favorite music tracks, just as this house track.
Kraze - The Party

Both give me instant trouble sitting still.

Something my own creations do not yet do to the same degree. snif. :P
Question time.

Giorgio Moroder - Chase (live by Kebu @ Sthlm Italo Disco Party 2015

The sounds at 3m for example.

What is going on ? I think I hear an arpeggio with something under it ? How to do this in lmms ?
Or is it impossible to figure out what he is doing from this vid?
I am in shock. While experimenting on chord progressions, I at one time decided to turn off the fast notes melody of the track.
I had at first worked on a off beat sound, and came up with an off beat arpeggio that plays just two notes.

Suddenly I seem to have a real Trance Track :O

I mean wtf.

This might proof I am over complicating things while trying to make trance. That feeling had been nagging me for a while now.
Every time I listened to any of my tracks and then to trance.

Also working on what in my mind is called the musicbear bass. :P
First attempt is a failure, but next thing to try is turn down some SynAddsubFx dials ( sustain and such )
( not using the same bass sound preset as Musicbear in his vid, and I am wondering if it the bass needs syncopation. :P
But first I want it to wobble.

musikbear bass? I'm curious to hear how that sounds. :D
Good name for a bass though. It has a certain stylistic ring to it.
One of Musicbear vids shows how to make a bass line were you put 4 notes at 100 % velocity
Then you copy the notes 1/16 or 2/16 ? ahead and lower the velocity to 75.
And so on, until you have 4 tracks. Thats for now the musicbear bassline.

I love the bassline that inspired him to find out how to make the tutorial.

The basics, 4 tracks with different velocity are already in, but as we can hear it needs work.

How hard can it be ( Clarkson quote) :P
There are only 1000 knobs ?

Knowing zynaddsubfx presets though, the first thing to have a look at is hold and decay. (specially for basslines)

About that melody that is haunting me.

I think I just gonna release a house/ disco version and a trance version.
House version with the fast bells.

Trance version with a melody I just made on my midi keyboard :)

In a way a historical moment, while listening to the drums and chord progression I had a melody in my mind.

Then tried the best I cant ;) , to play this on my midi controller.

First time since using lmms, a melody in my head appeared in the piano roll. :D :o :D :o

No I cant play, but my feel for timing / rhythm is pretty good, so after recording I have to do some fixing ( put it in a scale to name something :P ), but trying to do this the mouse way has never worked for me. By the time I start to figure out were to click the idea / melody is gone.

as long as it is only in your mind, i suppose its ok, but i cant take credit at ALL for that bass, it is btw just coincidently thsat i used a zasfx preset in the video, you could just as well use a 3oc, or one of the damn good Synth1 basses
The 'trick' is the manual delay with different velosity on notes in various relative positions :)

Here is one with 3oc

and this is the delay-structure over one bar

I love how that sounds, those strings and that bass, all I need to be happy :P

Looking at that pic though, that's rather different from what I have now, Interesting.
I am lost in music, caught in a trap. ;)

Still I am having fun, and even heaving more fun now then when I started serious with LMMS.

At first because of the help to stay in tune, I felt restricted, limited.
With my latest track though I am drowning in options. :O

I think I should stop trying to make trance from the stuff I have, and start over on a Trance track.

The more I listen to what I have now, the more I am convinced there is an edm hit in it, but not a real trance hit.

Changed the chord progression from one bar to two bars and to 4 bars. ( 4 bars the same notes)
Already it starts to sound much more trance like, but it also kills the part I like most About it.

( talking about this track, but that's not the changed one. https://soundcloud.com/user586365033/acidtranceexport )

So many options, chord progression over how many bars ?
Melody following or not strictly following the below chord progression.

And all these changes give the song a different atmosphere. I have so many options, it reminded me of a vid of Musicbear on chords.
He said he was gonna give us millions, and he did.

Then there is sequential, it starts to annoy me more and more in some ways. ( mostly the start )
Maybe I should just accept that sometimes you work on a track and its just not working out.
Found another Trance Tutorial. ( 8 parts )
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oOKj6-ZpzMM
If anybody has seen this tutorial, and who know why he uses a limiter ?
That the only part I am not getting.

He is doing the same thing with the hi hats, as music bear showed in that bass vid.
Messing with velocities to make it more fun. :)
