I know it very popular, the funny part for me is, I put a lot of effort into my songs to make it not sound 8 bit. :)
Sure, let's mix it up.
It's mostly EQ.
The three kick and bassdrum samples gave me quite a few options to mix them. I went for a less heavy sounding kick.
I like to have a little chorus and reverb on the piano.

I like how that sounds, will have a look at the lmms file later. :D

The latest track I am working on has three EQ in three different channels. For me that's a record. :P

So you don't EQ each instrument?
Nope I do not (yet)

So much to learn for me, the track I am talking about is in my out there topic.

What makes me happy though, my tracks start to sound better, but I feel I still have a long way to go.
Only serious making music for about over a year now. Before lmms almost no experience in playing real instruments either.
A lot of the people here have much more experience then me, I can tell when I listen to their tracks. :)

Wow I got file #8000, I feel honored.

I grouped the different patterns that I would normally use in an arrangement into beat/bassline patterns that combine them into "stems", so to speak.

I swapped the kick sounds with Kickers because that's what I use, and as it turns out, it's way easier to mix multiple kick sounds together if you have control over the pitch of each individual kick.

I swapped out several of the sounds with TripleOscillators because I always do that anyway, including a Hihat sound which is something I don't normally do but wanted to experiment with.

I grouped the kicks into one FX track, and chose one kick to be the "master kick" with a peak controller ducking all the rest of the kicks, then put a peak controller on the kick track to duck the bassline.

I arranged it into something listenable because I don't upload anything to soundcloud that I can't DJ with!

Very interesting for me. Looking at the spectrum analyzer, I already see an improvement which I can also hear.
Learning a lot from this topic. :D
