I have seen presets in Synth 1, called gated, but I do now have the slightest idea what it means.
Or how to make it.
Here you have an example of Gated chords
https://youtu.be/rpS2FNGnMds?t=2m42s

But this is made in FL Studio, so you have to find a plugin (idk if LMMS have a TranceGate) or use a preset from Synth1 (and try to understand how they crate the gated effect)

Trance Gate really add rythm in trance, give it a try and let me know !

PS : T-Force Trance gate can do the job -> http://www.vst4free.com/free_vst.php?pl ... te&id=1284
It's the one included in the T-force Alpha Plus VSTi, but this is just the effect, so you can use it on any synth ! Enjoy :)
Found this, vid about gated bass.
The guy uses Cubase, but this can be done in LMMS, not that fully understand it yet, but I remember a youtube vid, and a tripple ossilator.

Looks like what I definitely want.

I am not yet friends with the calf compressor though.

While mixing the sounds, I already noticed, it needs side chaining and frequency cuts offs on some of the instruments.
Been already doing a lot to the envelope of some of the sounds.

Problem is that I at the moment, have no idea, what to cut from were. lol
I just notice too much instruments fighting over the same space.

Need to figure out the compressors in lmms. Read again the topic about sidechaining, on this forum about it.

For now I have failed every time to get side chaining to work as it should.
I do understand the vids, that's why I understand this cubase vid its because of a lmms vid on side chaning.

Using a synth and a compressor (gate) to boost or cut another signal.

Great ;) This is an effect often (always) used in Trance ! It almost make the synth act like the drums actually, and together they make the rythm !
Maybe my current bassline is fine as sub bassline. :)

Now we need something on top. :P

For now I have been trying to find one bass line. This came to me after watching yet another vid, and another guy talking about subbass.

Yes ! That's exactly the point, I have the same problem, I made a bass line but it was only sub, so when listened on cheap earphones or everything average it was missing some good basss !

So yeah ! Musikbear gave you great advices !

What a find! I used a trance gate in a song a while ago, and it was a huge pain. I used the native hard gate effect that was synced to an LFO controller with a trance gate pattern. It took a lot of tweaking to finally get the result I wanted, so I haven't used that effect since. Now I might use it again; thanks!

No problem ! I'm glad it helped, I almost only use this synth now ! I used to use Synth1 but T-Force is better for wide supersaws ! As powerful as Sylenth1 !

A gated bass?
It's a sound that plays and sounds like it's being cut up rapidly.
Like each individual note, is playing one after the next at a speed, but being brought to a complete halt before the other one could play. Like a sort of synth sound Domino effect. Lol!
And if you add effects, you can make all sorts of original gated sounds.

Believe it or not. Gated sounds are actually easy to make in Synth 1.
Even I was surprised.

Do you want a gated bass sound tut?
I'll make a tut and post it here in a few days.
It'll take some time though.

Indeed! That is a good effect-plugin!
Not because om the gating, because that is already a feature in lmms (yes..!:), but this pluging has effects on the gated notes!!! That is freaking awesome!

Just for the record. Lmms has gating!
You use the 'user-select-waveform' icon on the instrument LFO:
Image
That is the '?' mark
When you click it, a Hint is shown
Any sample can be used in the LFO but several is included in lmms. You find these in the folder waveforms : lfo_trancegate_..
8 famous trancegate are included.
Those works 'of the shelf', but does not have effects on the gating!
One thing about gating, though.
It is recommended that about 3-5% of the sound is not-gated. This can be achieved with the WET-DRY control (W/D) on the FX-insert:

Hhehe lots of this could / should be in our wiki, i better make a note to self about consolidating some of what is in this thread :)
First of all. thank you guys for the gated bass help. Will look into that later.

Been rather busy fixing my pc. I now have a new 1 terabyte hard disk, and seriously hope this will the end of the computer problems for now.
I could tell quite a story, but his forum is about music.
Also a fresh install of LMMS and I have one lmms issue left, when I play a midi file, its silent. I know probable whats wrong.
I need to download a soundfont file. What confuses the hell out of me though, it was working fine before on the old hard disk.
Then suddenly stopped working. I really have this love hate relation with computers, although I am nerd enough to run Linux.
I am of course not trying to fix lmms on the hard disk, just need to get sound out of midi files on the fresh install.
( Its possible the sound font file got corrupted, because of the dying hard disk)

Things that went right, synth one is working again, and all presets from old hard disk are loading fine.
Most or all of my older project load fine, also some with custom drum sounds, not included in lmms.

I might also have found what was wrong with my trance track. (for it to be really trance)

I only changed two things.
My organ melody now has more but shorter notes.
My chord progression. I had one chord then a second chord lower. Changed this to the second chord higher in tone, then repeat this, but then second chord lower as before. For now happy with it.

Mixing wise I am worried. When I play just the drums (kick) its omg.
When the other instrument play too though, it drowns. The claps have this same problem, prob because of the hi hats.
The boom clap, boom clap, almost disappears.

I know what I have to do, but don't have a clue yet on how. I need to cut frequencies.
Learned that from this forum and watching many vids, of people making music on a computer.
Its something almost completely new to me though. And then there is side chaining. This track really needs it.
