Upon further study of the popcorn key-demo I am getting confused.

All synths are set to A. (green button)
Most tracks though start at C. Now is the song played in C or A ?
( if I have to pick, I go for C, because mark current scale from A, shows a lot of out of scale notes.
Mark scale from C, and 99% of the notes are in scale.

And to name one other thing I don't understand.
The track called Flute 3.

There are some notes were, what ever I try with scale minor, has notes out of scale, but if fix the notes, to be in scale it does not sound right.
My ears protest.

WTF ?
I suddenly remembered something.

That scale tool. Will give that a go, before I change anything..

Edit Might have found the problem, I used the minor scale which is not possible according tot that scale finder.

Some possibilities

D#/Eb major D#/Eb; F; G; G#/Ab; A#/Bb; C; D; D#/Eb;
G#/Ab major G#/Ab; A#/Bb; C; C#/Db; D#/Eb; F; G; G#/Ab;
A#/Bb major A#/Bb; C; D; D#/Eb; F; G; A; A#/Bb;

C melodic minor C; D; D#/Eb; F; G; A; B; C;
A#/Bb melodic minor A#/Bb; C; C#/Db; D#/Eb; F; G; A; A#/Bb;

D#/Eb ionian D#/Eb; F; G; G#/Ab; A#/Bb; C; D; D#/Eb;
G#/Ab ionian G#/Ab; A#/Bb; C; C#/Db; D#/Eb; F; G; G#/Ab;
A#/Bb ionian A#/Bb; C; D; D#/Eb; F; G; A; A#/Bb;

C harmonic minor C; D; D#/Eb; F; G; G#/Ab; B; C;
E harmonic minor E; F#/Gb; G; A; B; C; D#/Eb; E;

C natural minor C; D; D#/Eb; F; G; G#/Ab; A#/Bb; C;
F natural minor F; G; G#/Ab; A#/Bb; C; C#/Db; D#/Eb; F;
G natural minor G; A; A#/Bb; C; D; D#/Eb; F; G;
I cant remember which of my vids i mention, that the key of a song very often is the domminating bass-note (not alweays!), but you should give that a try. Simply look at the bass-track and find the note that the tune most often uses as bass

You mention a track that falls completely out of scale -That could be the percussion-track in the midi, and that is normal, and should simply be used by a general-user-percussion-sf2 (iirc its patch 128)
I am kind of ignoring that bassline in the popcornkey demo song. ( the track of which you told us, its not important, last track of the demo)

The mistake I made was trying to use C minor, then realised, I was already told that that was not the scale.

With help from that scaling tool and another webpage, which told me, that a natural minor is also called Aeolian, I did find a scale in LMMS, that does fit the notes.

Do you have the link of the other website? It could come in handy. :) I might want to have a go at creating a popcorn track ;)
Looks like fun. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Popcorn_%28music_style%29

I might have a final version soon.
Will listen to my song again tomorrow, but I might be there.

One part is a bit confusing for me.

All synths are set to H.
Most or all tracks start at C.

Thats the same as in the keydemo, and I think it sounds right.
I would think, if all tracks start at c, the synths should be set to C too ?
Most important question, did I finally get it right ?
This version sounds better to me then all previous versions.

If people are interested in the lmms file, tell me and I will upload it some were.
sorry but no, you are off key, both in the lead and in accompaniment, after only a few seconds. You should drop these popcorn now, and work with something else -Why not make something on your own? Find a key and a scale and STICK to it in all tracks, then compose something - You could study the note usage and rytm in popcorn, and try to do something similar, but your own song.
Thank you, and I will give up for now.

I already started with something of my own.

The weird thing to me is, I think I can hear my popcorn is not right.
Very annoying but hopeful.
Annoying because I fail at fixing it, but hopeful it does not sound right to me.
Probably with more practice, my musical hearing will improve further.

And now I type this I suddenly realise, I used two scales.
