Tapping BPM Calculator

I would find it immensely useful to have a button I could tap next to the BPM selector that would give me a BPM by simply tapping. If you are thinking about making a song in your head or trying to match a speed of another song this tool would be wonderful. I know there are beat analyzers but that would entail a lot more programming. What I'm asking for would be super beneficial and more simplistic to implement.

To make it even better, you should be able to record a tempo map (ie. a bpm automation) for your entire song by tapping a button. I heard this is possible in Reaper, and some other programs, something like this shouldn't even be very hard to implement...
