Unable to change Audio Settings [FIXED]

I just downloaded this program, and so far the only thing I managed to achieve is by making myself FURIOUS!
The problem is the following:

1, No audio (Dummy, no input)
2, I try to change it to SDL
3, The program asks me to restart (No sounds, when I try go back to the menu it still is set to Dummy)
4, As soon as I restart the Audio Settings window pop up again, set as Dummy still.
5, I try to change it to SDL again.
6, The program asks me to restart (No sounds still).
7, Rinse and repeat.

Is there any way to get around this? I tried chaning it to literally anything, but it keeps changing back. It's ridiculous.

EDIT:
Seems like it happened again, I found the solution almost right afterwards.
The problem was the 4.15 version, which made it literally unusable. I downloaded 4.13 and it works like a dream.

If you guys had/have the same problem, get the previous versions here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/lmms/files/lmms/
I'm going to leave this thing here, so others can see it.

Well. I have had the problem before... with 0.4.13 on my XP. But after doing the same over and over it worked. Must have done something... don't remember what it was

I had the same problem with v4.15 installed on Windows 7 64bit. Everytime I tried to change the sound from dummy it reverted.

I got around it by going to the install directory (C:\Program Files\LMMS) and removing the "read only" permission setting on the entire folder. There were also some weird / \ issues in the path names in the settings.

Yeah,.... for anyone who wants to know,
you have to change all of the "Weird characters: eg. * or % or any other symbol into slashes \.
Otherwise if you don't, it'll mess up the file paths and LMMS might display alot of Error messages, or fail to start etc.
due to weird characters being in the file paths.

So for anyone that has these "weird characters," in the path names and settings menu, change them into the \ symbol.

Hope that helps.

Also there are a few posts on the LMMS forum that deal with the "weird symbols," in the file paths and menu settings. :D

Hi guys,
I'm having the same problem and for my first time downloading it it's really annoying/frustrating as a first time user.

I downloaded v4.15 for Vista 32 bit and the issue with sound was there in that I had no sound at all and it wouldn't change from "dummy no sound" to my desired output device so I tried deactivating the read only on the folder as was mentioned and it worked so that I could change to my desired sound device but I still had no sound and also the folder for some reason became read only again, so I uninstalled v4.15 and installed v4.13 and again had to change to read only. This worked and I have sound etc.

Now the problem I'm having (as was the same with v4.15) is that it won't save the files for me telling me I haven't access to write the file to the C Drive, so again I changed the read only (as it had changed back to read only) on the LMMS folder just to see and the problem is still there. I have noticed that the folder it's trying to write to is C:/ instead of C:\. It was mentioned before as being a problem but where do I change the / to \ for the C Drive. Is there a text file or something where I change the characters (although I have searched for a text file in the LMMS folder but nothing there) I'm nearly there just one more step to go I hope. I appreciate your help, hopefully I will get it sorted.

Thanks

1)Open Lmms

2)Go to the top of the screen and click on the settings option.

3)Click on or select Show settings dialog menu option.
Or is it Edit? hmmm...

It'll open up the General settings menu and other stuff.

4)Click on the folder pic icon, under the wrench and screwdriver icon pic.

5)You'll see folders and paths that lead to various folders and disk drives.
Look for the one leading to the C drive and you can edit the slashes from there and replace them with the correct ones.
Remove any weird symbols if you see any.
From what I know, only slashes symbols should be there.

Here it is in the Lmms Wiki http://lmms.sourceforge.net/wiki/index. ... S_Settings

I hope that helps. :D

Yes, I know I am necrobumping this thread, but it is needed.
The first error of not being able to change audio settings happens with 1.1.3. I have downloaded 0.4.13, but the version is so old that I must ask if there is any version that works that is more newer. Thank you.

But lets focus on your problem
