playing samples

i want to play a long sample in a sample track from any place, so i don't have to listen to the whole thing from the start.
is this possible?
or do i have to chop it up using external software like audacity??

Yeah, it's a known issue. Currently sample tracks support on LMMS is very rudimentary, to say the least. If you need to work with long sample tracks, it's better to use Ardour or Qtractor for now, or if you really must use LMMS for them, you just have to chop up your samples first.

The dev team is aware of this issue and it will be addressed in the future, can't give an exact time though.
