At the start of the tutorial for beginners, there are the headings

Your First Song with LMMS - a more step-by-step tutorial
Your first beat
Your first bass
Your first melody
Your first arp
Your first automation
Your first vocals
Your first effects (FX)
Your first song

but where, please, is there anything about "Your first vocals"? because following the link gets me no closer to knowing how to deal with vocals.

Short version: you compose the music in LMMS as a background track, mix it down, load it up in eg. Audacity or Ardour, and record the vocals on separate tracks there, then mix it down.

There's really no point in trying to work with long sampletracks in LMMS, because sampletracks are not finished as a feature.

Ahhh! I suspected as much, but was thrown by the bullet point "The First Vocals", which then came up with, er... nothing! Thanks for your help, Diiz.
