The Blender 3D modelling tool has the ability to treat files in its native file format as a library to load objects from. So instead of opening an entire project in Blender, one can import one or more objects from any .blend file into the current workspace. After selecting a .blend file to import from, the user is presented with a tree containing every object in the file to make one or more selections from.
This would be a useful feature to have in LMMS, and with any file format that LMMS supports. The ability to do this in reverse would be useful too [ie export a single object from the current project into another file without overwriting it].
