Question about creating a sound

Anything that doesn't fit into other topics goes here!
Hopefully this is in the correct area. I am learning lmms and have been going through a bunch of tutorials regarding instruments, general synthesizer stuff (pitch, envelopes, LfO's ... etc.).

In any case - I am attempting to create a mouse click type sound (using an instrument or preset) to use as well as for learning, but am not getting exactly what I am looking for. I am able to create a quick sound using a short attack, a short hold, a short delay to basically no sustain, and basically no release - however, it still doesn't seem to have that "click" sound. How does one describe a mouse click sound - is it a high pitched sound with very short duration? Furthermore, what types of instruments or waves are good ways to represent such a sound. Finally, a mouse click has 2 components (up and down) - would it be wise to create a first sound then repeat it at a slightly different pitch or use some type of effect to create the second component.

I know I can simply download such a sound - but am interested in learning how to do it if at all possible
Thanks
woooo.. that is serious complicated, actually. Really nice sounds from every-day gadgets, are simply science. In the industry, there are high educated specialists 'sound-engineers' who does absolutely noting but designing the sounds, that in many cases are regarded as important as any other performance. Som the neat reliable clicksound you hear from your mouse, is not a 'simple' click sound. If you analize it, it is a sound-composite, and using an instrument, to reproduce that sound, may be difficult/ impossible. What i would do is to listen to the recorded sound in 'slomo', and then build a composite-sound, that comes as close as posible. If *That* sound then is played normal fast, or on a higher octave.. it should then get *closer* to the original click -buts.. difficult :p
A mouse click sound?! GASP!!
I agree with musikbear.
This might be a bit of a challenge.
