Smoothing filter

Not sure if this already exists

If I use the lowpass filter on an instrument, the waveform smooths out the higher pitches. But if I play a lower note these higher frequencies fade back in. If I have an instrument that has been calibrated for one note, and then I play higher notes, it is too quiet, or too harsh on lower notes. Is there any why to have the filter smooth the notes the same amount regardless of pitch?
Thanks

(I hope that made sense :) )

Sounds like you want a limiter and/or a compressor.

Sort of, but instead of cutting the amplitude, smooths the wave.

Oh ok, I think I know what you mean now. You want a pitch-tracking filter.

Yeah, we don't have that at the moment. It's been talked about and maybe will be implemented in the future, possibly in the 1.2 timeframe.

Sounds like you want Pitch Tracking added to Filters in LMMS.

Pitch Tracking adjusts the cutoff according to the note being played. Thus, you can easily make a "smoothing" effect.
