Splitting a midi keyboard into to channels.

I'm not good on explaining how I did it. I split the keyboard at middle C into two different channels, But I have found the playback sounds like your sitting in front of the keyboard.

That's quite interesting.
Did you use an external tool to split the channels?

I used the keyboard it self with LMMS to map out the keys, into two different instruments in LMMS.
Similar to mapping controls from the keyboard to LMMS, but a little more complicated.

I found that if you can set the left side of the keyboard to midi channel 2, and leave the default channel 1 to the right side LMMS automatically splits the channels. I can with mine but, not all keyboards have the ability.
