Issues with Jack

Hello all!
My first post here; many kudos to LMMS, it's a wonderful app that I really enjoy using on my linux machines.
I recently installed LMMS on a laptop that runs on BodhiLinux, one of my favorites, really fast and tweakable in every detail.
I've encountered a problem however, as when I have Jack running (and Jack is also selected as the audio host in the LMMS preferences page), it won't connect, and I end up having to close LMMS and Jack, and restart Jack to get it running again.
I don't have PulseAudio installed at all, to avoid complications. Alsa is installed, and LMMS runs fine with that, but I prefer Jack.
How can I resolve this?
