Issue #1974 - Mixer Needs A Pan Knob - Possible Solutions?

Anything that doesn't fit into other topics goes here!
Hello Everyone,

Issue #1974 - Mixer Needs A Pan Knob

When looking this issue up it appears as if this request was handled with a great deal of kindness :)
I was just wondering if anyone else desires pan knobs in the mixer or is this off the table for consideration for good, with no compromise?

It seems that many feel that a pan knob added to the mixer would clutter things up, making comments that pan knobs are not needed, and also mentioning now that their are also send knobs taking more space already as it is
To some level I understand, I also like the look of the mixer and how clean and simple it is, but doesn't anybody else use panning during their mixing process? Not saying their is any rule that it should have them, but I don't think I have seen a mixer in any other software that doesn't have them?

This got me thinking, what if the mixer was made to be more modular where each item was a row with the ability to turn items (rows) on and off as well as even maybe the ability to re-order how they are stacked.
This way if you don't use something you can just hide it or say if you want the sends to be on the bottom of the mixer you can just move that modular row down to the bottom? You can even make the row that contains the track labels be stretchable which would solve if names get too long.

The modular approach would also leave some room in the future if any other ideas of adding things to the mixer ever come up. Probably would be a great deal of programming to do this and may be a little too complex, but I was just trying to think of how to keep everybody happy, as the mixer is a key component to any DAW.

If other users do not want the physical dimension of the mixer window to change and also don't want another knob added to the mixer. If you look at the mixer now their actually seems to be a little unused space, a little at the top and especially at the bottom, the tracks do not go all the way to the bottom of the mixer window. With this room if some things were shifted around you might be able to give a little more room for the track labels and may be able to at least fit a rectangle with a horizontal slider for panning [ | ] (when moved right or left a little filled triangle graphic like you see with volume bars can be added for a visual). This rectangle can be placed in between the on/off green light rectangle and the volume faders.

Just wondering if anyone has any positive opinions on the matter?

Thank you to anyone that reads all of this.
i just want to say, that you can insert a 'stereo-matrix' in any FX-channel in the mixer, and have pan of that channel.
A substantial re-design in mixer, will propl. not happen in near future.
Thank You for your response MusikBear.
I saw your response a while back but I figured I would wait a while and respond to anyone who posted on this thread all at once, turns out, you're it.

I figured that the mixer would not be receiving any major upgrades (such as being able to move stuff around and hide items) any time soon, but hopefully some kind of panning knobs / sliders will one day be considered to be added.
I am aware of a couple of different methods in being able to pan tracks, the benefit of having the panning knobs in the mixer is that you are able to see each tracks pan state all at once. Similar to how you can change the volume of each track elsewhere but it helps to see all the volume faders in one place, all side by side to each other.

Anyways thank you again for your response, and for all the help you provide myself and others, I see your name around a lot, you are a very helpful individual.
