Hello all,

I am relativly new to LMMS. I have been working with it using linux for the past month and have fallen in love with this software. However, I have stumbled upon some aggrivating bugs. I searched for this preoblem in the forums but could not find a thread discussing this particular problem.

This is what I attempt to do step by step:

1. Use Trpl Oscilator for a simple melody.
2. Apply any kind of effect.
3. Open an Automation window and create the automation.

Everything up to this point works fine. It isn't until I try to edit the automation that the LMMS program crashes. Immediately after I double click to open the automation editor, LMMS completely crashes and I have to restart the program, and even the sometimes the sound is messed up.This isn't just an isolated event, this happens every time I try to edit any automation on any one of my songs after I initially create the automation. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You could try to open a terminal and start lmms by typing: lmms

leave the terminal as it is, go to lmms, make it crash, and then look at the terminal.
It will prob tell us more, on why it is crashing.

... You don't say... Maybe you should try another driver or force quit on the sound drivers you do not use, they can interfere. Jack is probably the best one (sound driver). It could also be that you don't know about sound clipping (look it up).

This is what the terminal says when I open LMMS with the terminal:

ryan@RyanCalvert-PC ~ $ lmms
Notice: could not set realtime priority.
VST sync support disabled in your configuration
ASSERT: "it == time_map.end()-1" in file /build/buildd/lmms-1.0.0+stable/src/gui/AutomationEditor.cpp, line 1600
Aborted

LMMS chrashes every time. Also thank you for the tip about sound clipping.

Please try installing the newest version :) The repo you are using is probably behind, try using the KXStudio repo. If that doesn't work, the package manager link should have the latest version (1.1.0).

I have the same problem. With help from the link above i got rid of the

Code: Select all

Notice: could not set realtime priority.
VST sync support disabled in your configuration
errors but i still get

Code: Select all

 $ lmms
ASSERT: "it == time_map.end()-1" in file /build/buildd/lmms-1.0.0+stable/src/gui/AutomationEditor.cpp, line 1600
Aborted
This tends to happen when i scroll to the beginning of the animator, then poof.

@rebelfarmer: LMMS 1.0.0 from the default ubuntu PPA is broken. Its recomended to use the KXStudio PPA to get the latest version of LMMS: http://kxstudio.sourceforge.net/Repositories
