Hi,
I am new to LMMS and was rather hoping that when I hover over an icon a message would appear displaying information as to what an icon does...

Instead a blank white box appears at each icon I hover over...Does anyone know how to correct this problem I am having?

This sounds strange? The tool-tip functionalty has been overhauled in 0.4.8 and should work perfectly for all components (does for me)

What version (platform+release) of LMMS are you using?

I have now upgraded to version 0.4.8... and am still having the same problem... No information to tell me what buttons do what, just white boxes appear displaying no text.

I am using Ubuntu 10.04 can anyone help please?

I only have expirience with the windows version. Default tooltips is enabled, but ..
Edit| Settings | General Settings | Enable tooltips <ON>
Do check if that is OFF .. -wont make a blanck box though..

but somthing seems to be wrong. I would try to remove the installation completely and re-install in a new location.
This will however result in broken links to your presets and samples :/
It is strange that your update diddent fix it ..
