Those Lovely Little Cracks and Blips.

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
Hello Wonderful People,

Found LMMS about a month ago, and it has been a godsend. I've been needing a program like this for awhile, and getting to know my way around it has been terribly fun and exciting. I'm glad to be part of this community now!

That being said, this bright-eyed newbie has no idea what to do with the, as Bill Cosby would say,

"Beeps and bobbities and zippity-zoopy-doos a-pffffffffffzzzaaahhhh."

These clicks and pops occur at random points in my pieces, and there is a point in one of my tracks where they occur at the beginning of every note of my sine Triple Oscillator playing in the lower register.

I'm running LMMS 1.0.4. Not sure what information is needed exactly, but I'm sure I'll be able to provide more if needed. Also, I'm still not 100% on how to go about setting up in the...Settings. I apologize for my large gaps in knowledge--I'm just starting to learn about all of these electronic music production terms (I thought an Envelope was for sending letters...everything's different here...).

Any help given is greatly appreciated. Thank you all so much! I look forward to this great community. :)
Which platform are you using (Linux, Windows, Mac)?
Sometimes the Triple Oscillator tends to overdriven output, try to decrease volume either in the instrument settings or in the mixer.
Welcome to the community!

That is strange 1.0.3 was the last in 1.0.x series, and now the 1.1.0
https://lmms.io/download/#windows
was released 24/12-14
So first you should update! :D
Secondly, bad sound-quality can originate from many sources.
The first and often most important is sound-device
https://lmms.io/documentation/LMMS_Sett ... o_Settings
For win we advice SDL
for linux ALSA
Secondly, the 'volume' of output can be a source of distortion
To monitor that you can look at the visualization-view
https://lmms.io/documentation/Tool_Bar
(rightmost over the cpu-gadget)
The spectrum shows current signal from master
The line should not turn red!
Yellow is kind of warning, and green means that things are just fine.
You can find -lots- of plugins Spectrum-analysers that will show more details. Just inserts the vst as effect on master
One is also default included in the FX collection.
Thirdly the actual shape of wave-patterns can be causing artefacts.
Here you need to solo out the instrument that creates the crackles, and experiment with both attac and release settings on the ENV tab
https://lmms.io/documentation/Working_w ... ope_basics
Let me know if this gets you going in ther right direction

btw You asked 'other information i should post'
when asking tech quistions, it is always good to post
*OS
*lmms vers
*lmms sound device chosen
*if any -screenshots of error
*if relevant, demo mmp
*perhaps a sound-file
Simple fix, turn the attack knob a tiny bit up. https://lmms.io/documentation/User_FAQ

musikBear, how come you not suggest this?
Sti-jay - i did :D - i even managed to missspell 'attacK' :p

Hello again,

I've done just about everything you told me, and it's worked very well. I think I may just be pumping too much out of the Triple Oscillator as well. I've lowered the master and have gotten all green in my waveform. Thank you all so much! I'm excited for what's to come.

And musikbear, you're right--I had 1.0.3., not 1.0.4--a little misreading on my part. 1.1.0 is great so far!
