New to LMMS, having a minor issue...

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
Hi everyone, so, as the title says, I'm new to LMMS. Downloaded it about 2 weeks ago or so and fucked around with it for a bit, made a few tracks here and there (electronic/hip hop, if anyone's curious) and it's working great so far, but I have one minor issue.

Whenever i use a lot of tracks in my beat + bassline editor and click on other sounds to use, sometimes the only audio the program will produce is a crackling noise. Doesn't matter which sound i'm trying to use. The sound will "play" but the only thing i'm hearing is some sort of white noise, and although it will go off again, it happens semi-frequently, and I don't know what's causing it.

I'm using LMMS on Ubuntu 14.04, by the way, on a Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 540.

Thanks in advance!
Check and/or change your audio output device settings. You didn't specify which OS you're using, which LMMS version, or any of your current audio output settings, so that's about all I can say to that.

Also, if you're using the record crackle effect (I forget the real name) then I've noticed that it will always crackle even when the song isn't playing.

eg - it is the pre-view feature that goes subsequently down in quality, as you add more elements in the editor?
That could point to a memory issue. How much ram do you have?
Does thec cpu indicator max out, when you try to pre-view?
Are this done during playback?

Is it also the default sounds that fails?
After a bit of digging around, I came to the conlcusion that it is in fact a memory issue. Not really catastrophic, but kind of annoying nonetheless, oh well.
Thanks for the tips!
Also, this is probably a stupid question but i don't reckon it's possible to collaborate between FL and LMMS users regarding stems & individual tracks, right?

Well, it would be a lot simpler if LMMS could export MIDI or FL studio could open LMMS files. The FL guys cannot edit a LMMS project so either they would have to get LMMS (easiest solution), or they must communicate their suggestions to you so you write the whole project.
