Aaaaarg! It seems a whole lot of VST instruments lock up my computer. Is there a list, or a specific type that is safe to use? I have an old windows xp.

There is a list, but it is far from complete. Most VSTs listed are old.

DSK VSTs are a good place to start, although some of those romplers are rather big. Another VST that is often mentioned is Synth1. You can find loads of free presets for Synth1 on the internet.

The list doesn't say anything about old and tired computers though. You want VSTs that use very little resources, you can probably get far by searching for exactly that or ask us. If you want a synth VST try Synth1
