Hi there,
I am totally new to LMMS!
I downloaded it when looking for something free to be able to play some MP3 files as samples, each one connected to a key on my computer keyboard.
I think that this is possible, based on what the Internet told me, but I'm having trouble getting started. Do I need a sound font file to be able to do this? I downloaded one, and have managed to put it in the LMMS folder, but in the Preferences section of the program, there is no section to set a default sound font file, which a tutorial told me there should be. But do I even need to be doing this to accomplish what I've described? I tried to import an MP3 file, and was not successful. I got the following messages one after another:
"You did not compile LMMS with support for SoundFont2 player, which is used to add default sound to imported MIDI files. Therefore no sound will be played back after importing this MIDI file."
"Couldn't find a filter for importing file THEFILENAME.mp3. You should convert this file into a format supported by LMMS using another software."
I am totally confused, help?
And if you think there is a better free program that I could use to accomplish this task, I'm totally open to that as well!
Thank you so much! Hope to hear from someone soon.
