Linux - LMMS stops working and makes Metallic Noises

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
I'm using LMMS on Ubuntu Linux from the repositories. The program works at first, but once in a while, it stops working correctly, and only makes these horrible noises instead of sound. Also, when I press play on the piano roll or song editor, the cursor moves at much greater speeds than usual. At these times, the only thing it seems I can do is close the program and restart it (tho the problem seems to go away by itself sometimes). During these moments, the cpu usage of LMMS and pulseaudio becomes higher than usual, even if it isn't producing any sound.

What I like to do is use the buit in ZynAddSubFX with microtonal scales (Which has its own bug btw, for which I'll make another thread)

The version of LMMS I have is: 1̶.̶0̶.̶0̶ ̶(̶L̶i̶n̶u̶x̶ ̶i̶3̶8̶6̶,̶ ̶Q̶t̶ ̶4̶.̶8̶.̶6̶,̶ ̶G̶C̶C̶ ̶4̶.̶8̶.̶2̶)̶ 1.1.1 (Linux i386, Qt 4.6.2, GCC 4.8.1)
I use pulseaudio 4.0 for the sound (but the sound setting in LMMS is ALSA)
I use Ubuntu 14.04.1 LTS (trusty).
I have about 1.5g of ram (could this be LMMS running out of memory and panicking? considering I often run firefox alongside)

In the console, when I start lmms, I get:

Code: Select all

Notice: could not set realtime priority.
VST sync support disabled in your configuration
and sometimes get one or a few of these errors:

Code: Select all

RemotePlugin::DebugMessage: failed getting shared memory
RemotePluginClient::shmget: No such file or directory
The second message seems to apear when I open the ZASfx gui, and I have no idea about the first.

Edit: I installed LMMS 1.1.1 (Linux i386, Qt 4.6.2, GCC 4.8.1) from the kxstudio repositories, and I still have this problem (only now ZASfx's theme is changed and its instrument bank doesn't display anything for some reason :cry: )
auch.. i hope some serious linux guru chimes in, because i have no knowledge on penguins..
So -The only things a can tell you is related to zasfx
No need to post anything in lmms forum, regarding either microtonal, or missing banks (in linux - a fix exists for windows users: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=foUqtb725JE)
Both issues are exclusive zasfx, and lmms-team cant do anything at all. You can make a bug-report in the zasfx group on git-hub:
http://sourceforge.net/p/zynaddsubfx/bu ... rce=navbar
(They already know about the instrument population bug)
@JohnMill

I used to have these problems as well, what fixed it for me was setting Alsa settings to use hw:0,0 fixed it for me. See: https://lmms.io/documentation/Troublesh ... ts_in_LMMS

Then I switched to JACK and never had to bother with this again.
You can ignore those messages, I have them too on openSUSE, still lmms works right.

If I get you right, I had this problem when running skype together with lmms.

Rebooting the pc always solved the problem though.
I don't get any error messages, and everything runs smoothly.
But I'am still running version Linux MultiMedia Studio 1.0.3
on a Debian based operating system.
I'am more of a musician than a technician, So I can't help much.
I just know what works for me, and if it's not broke don't fix it.
I'am still waiting for the upgrades this way. I use jessie (testing) repositories.
