none of the fixes are working for the runtime error

Having trouble with LMMS? Ask about it here.
when i open lmms (any version after 0.4.15) i get the "this app has requested runtime to terminate it in an unusual way" error when the splash screen says it's loading the automation editor, and then the app closes. I have tried several bug fixes for this (reinstalling visual c++, updating audio drivers, reinstalling graphics drivers, installing visual studio, etc.) and i have uninstalled and reinstalled the 32 bit and 64 bit versions of the program in multiple versions after 0.4.15. I am runnting windows 10 home 64 bit on 4 gb ram and an x64 intel i5-2450M 2.50 GHz processor. my audio driver is the default conexant smartaudio driver, updated to the newest version. My laptop is a Sony Vaio VPCEG3BFX, with an nvidia geforce 410m graphics card.
Nothing seems to work, and only the RC version 0f 0.4.15 from portableapps.com works

That 0.4.15 is SO outdated -what is the newest version you have tried?
You need to:
*Back-up your own stuff
*De-install current installation
*move the dot-file
https://lmms.io/wiki/index.php?title=LM ... h_Settings
*remove your current installation-pack
*download a fresh new installation-pack
https://lmms.io/download/#windows
*re-install as administrator

Besides that since you are new here

---------edit---------
I have just seen that you have reported this as a bug.
This is not a bug. everyone else can use lmms on windows, so this is something on your pc, or your install, your hw -and not a bug.
This is not a bug
Yes it is, we just don't know how to fix it.

I have 0.4.15 installed on a flash drive, the newest version i've tried (both on USB and hard drive) is lmms 1.2., in 32 bit, 64 bit, 32 bit rc, and 64 bit rc. and every version i open after 0.4.15 give me an error when preparing the automation editor at the splash screen.

*move the dot-file

But the app crashes at the splash screen, before it actually opens. I have no way of opening the settings tab without the app open

Forget about 0.4.15 it Wont work! Stop using it for anything on win10, and do not install on a usb, if thats what you meant by 'flash-drive'
If you mean SSD then its fine, in fact very fine :)
the newest version i've tried (both on USB and hard drive) is lmms 1.2.
That is not for normal use.
every version i open after 0.4.15 give me an error when preparing the automation editor at the splash screen.
Yes and thats why you need to de-install -everything-

Moving the dot-file has nothing to do with run-time. You do as it is explained in the article i linked you to. Read that now, then move the file not in run time. then go back to my first list, and follow that, but this time dl lmms 1.1.3, off. version for windows, and install that
I've tried the solutions and can't make LMMS run on Windows 10. I did everything and I still get the runtime error when I open LMMS. I'm disappointed since LMMS worked so well on Windows 7.

Have you installed outside the windows directory?
