Hey Guys, there are already some days i'm struggling with it, I'm trying to link musescore and lmms with jack, and after a long time trying I still can't make jack to recognize musescore in anyway, and lmms is recognized only for its audio output, and what i need is a least the midi input, because the idea is play the notation in musescore and hear how it will already with the synth sound. In musescore.org there is a tutorial, but it is only for linnux. could anyone help me please? Thanks.

Hi @Bira, unfortunately I don't know very much about Jack on Windows.
On Linux I would use Catia patchbay (
http://kxstudio.sourceforge.net/Applications:Catia) that provides a MIDI Bridge, there's a windows version of this software but I don't know if it recognizes windows MIDI.
If I am not mistaken LMMS does not have Jack MIDI capabilities today, so if this could be fixed you probably would not have the problem.
You can try exporting MuseScore to .mid and then importing the file on LMMS though.

Thank you @Badosu, i tried catia and carla, but it still don't works. I use to export midi files from musescore to lmms, I am trying to link both because it would make my prodution much fast and better, because i could try and hear the sounds during the arrangement composition and set it as i intend it should be in the final version even before finish it.

There's an open issue to improve MIDI capabilities on LMMS:
https://github.com/LMMS/lmms/issues/1472
You're welcome to add any feedback there.

The article on Musescore uses LMMS to play sound fonts for the midi score, not much different than using the build-in sound font capabilities it already has. The article is also from May of 2014 and since it was written, Musescore 2.0 Beta 2 has been released with a better sound font engine. If you're thinking you'll be able to use live vst in LMMS and model your sounds, you'll be disappointed. Other than some post effects in LMMS, you'll still be using a sound font file and not vst modules. My suggestion, find a good quality sound font library and set up Musescore to use it instead of the one that ships with it. I use the new Musescore 2.0 along with the FluidR3 GM.sf2 library and it sounds good enough for composition, IMO. Cheers.

Thank you @The Traveler, did you mean this article? ttp://musescore.org/en/node/25785 There they say that it works with vsts also .Is good to know that the 2,0 version have a good soundfont I was hesitating in change to this version due it is not a stable version, but i will try.

Now I already get to do the midi conection, but still did not make it works, i guess now will be a matter of configuration and knowledge about virtual midi cables and related things like the Jackaudio, I'm a beginner in this business is the first time i deal with virtual midi cables. I will explain to you what I did: I used jack, cadence Catia and Carla, and loopmidi. There is a trick to make the midi conection from musescore and lmms appear in jack. Before open musescore you need to open loop midi, so when you open musescore you will see in edit=> configurations the option to choose loopmidi as your midi cable. To LMMS you need to open the jack portaudio before open LMMS, so LMMS you recognize it, and the jack control you should open only after open lmms. After all it when you open LMMS you will see in each vst or soundfont track that place where you can remove the track or add a midi conection, and when you go there you will see loopmidi as option to in or out midi conection, so you choose the option to in. The problem is that all this connections appear in the jack as simple system connections is hard to identify from what program it belongs. I still did not get to configure it, but I am trying. The guy from this channel helped me a lot.

Now I will need your help about the configuration. When i finish it I will create a detailed tutorial, it will be helpfull to everyone.
I sorry for had delayed in reply, it is because my connection was very bad today. Thanks to all you for your efforts in helping me until here. Cheers.

I don't see a way to link a score editor to LMMS.
Myself after writing a score with the score editor, I export a midi from it. Then import the midi into LMMS. It's the only way I could ever do it. The only drawback from doing this is the midi lacks the dynamics, of the music, and sounds almost mechanical.
If you print the finished work from the score editor, then play it on your musical keyboard recording via LMMS you have the dynamics of the music.
