Newly updated LMMS 1.1.3 crashes when I open Settings

Hello.

Shortly after updating to the newest version of LMMS (1.1.3), I noticed that whenever I try to access the Settings it causes LMMS to crash. I have attached two screenshots of the issue below.

I have three questions:

1. Does anyone else have this problem?
2. What could be causing this problem?
3. How can I prevent this from happening?

One additional thing I will note: earlier today I was removing programs I no longer need or use, and mistakenly uninstalled LMMS. I thought I was only removing an older version, but it removed LMMS entirely from my computer. I reinstalled it, and did not lose anything except the ability to access the settings. I don't think this is a relevant detail, but I also don't know what caused the issue in the first place.

So far, everything else seems to be working normally.

Thanks!

EDIT: I noticed that other people seem to be having the same problem after switching from the 32-bit version to the 64-bit version, so I suppose some additional information is necessary. I have never run the 32-bit version on this computer. I accidentally uninstalled (via the uninstall.exe in the LMMS directory) my previous version (LMMS 1.1.2) and downloaded/installed the new version (LMMS 1.1.3). That's when the issue started happening. I didn't manually delete any files, nor did I switch from the 32-bit to the 64-bit version.

nice documented -except i would have liked to know your windows version -but

My guess is that you have an old configuration file, and that you have made a change, that no longer is valid -However
I dont like that 32 v. 64 thing.. That worries me somewhat..
But try this solution:
Open your windows-user-directory
Used to be <instalDisk>:\Documents and Settings\<pcName>
If you cant find this, do a search for the file:
.lmmsrc.xml
In the directiory, make a new folder - Name it like 'tt'
MOVE ! .lmmsrc.xml to tt
Restart lmms.
You now need to re-configure all paths
I hope this does it, but if not, i may have to look at your .lmmsrc.xml, so thats why it was moved

My mistake, I am currently running Windows 7 64-bit.

I found .lmmsrc.xml in C:\Users\<pcName>. I created a folder in that directory and named it "tt", and now LMMS won't even open before crashing (same error report, just on startup instead of when I access the settings). I'm assuming the problem is that .lmmsrc.xml is in the wrong directory, so where should it be?

EDIT: A quick, possibly relevant note. I tried to access the directory C:\Documents and Settings, but it gave me the error message a "Location not found" error message, which I have attached below. At this point, I'm curious as to whether this is an issue with LMMS or an issue with my computer's directories.

Perhaps this is relevant. I recently performed a virus scan with AVG Antivirus. That was approximately two hours before I started noticing the issue. Could that be what caused the problem?

Documents and settings is always like that in Win 7, it's not a real folder just maintained as a name for backwards compatibility....so not a problem.

But the fact that your LMMS crashes immediately if there is no .lmms.xml file in /Users/<username> is odd. BTW mine is in Users/username not pcname as you say). I just tried it myself (LMMS 1.1.3, Win 7, 64bit) and it simply came up with the LMMS splash screen and then the settings dialogue with defaults before the main screen was loaded.

what slipstick described is exactly what i had hoped would happen -A brand new .lmms.xml should be created. Are you logged in as administrator?

Yes, I am logged in as administrator. I'm not running LMMS with administrative privileges, though.

An extra note, when I move .lmmsrc.xml back to the username directory (I mistyped when I said it was in the pcName directory), LMMS opens normally again, though still without access to settings. That probably isn't significant, but I include it just in case.

Look at the screenshots. This is most likely an issue with PortAudio.

PortAudio? I'm not entirely sure what that is.

Keep in mind that this is a new issue. LMMS worked fine before I updated it, no problems whatsoever. And again, I used uninstall.exe to remove the older version.

could be that audio-device need to be set again, but you cant access settings...
Do you have a proper XML editor? If not, zip the current .lmms.xml file and attach it to a PM to me

I don't think it is an issue with the audio device. LMMS works fine except that I can't access the settings. I've been using it normally while this thread has been going.

Unless an issue with the audio device would affect the settings and nothing else...?
