how to use drumburst x-824 with lmms

Hi. I am kinda new to lmms. I know how to bring up the drumburst vst plugin into lmms and it works and I can make beats with it and play them in the drum machine, but I dont know how to make the drum machine play in the regular lmms song editor. I tried dragging a chord out as a drumroll but it makes no sound. Do I have to set it up as midi or export the beat and bring it back in or what? I was thinking about trying to run it out to JACK and play it as a midi track.

Not familiar with that exact VST, but similar 'drum-machines' can be activated with on/off automation
You 'simply' set the drum-machine to to play a loop, with a automation-track signal, and turn it off the same way:
on = 1
off = 0
If the drumVST has programmable sequencers, with many beats, you can also change program on the sequencers, with automation signals.
One cravat:
Make sure that your VST actually saves all settings you have made in the project
