Noise

I've been using LMMS for a week now and finding it easy to use compared to other things I've tried such as Cubase. One thing though that is a real problem is that there is often white noise type of sound. Also, the tempo slows down when this happens. Basically, it's unusable in that state. If the noise is going to happen it does from starting up the file, rather than starting after using it for a while

The volume is turned right down so it's not from that being too high.

I've tried exporting the file using the noise to see and that file sounds fine.

Help with this would be great thanks.

Thats odd..
Try and make a recording of the situation, with something like audacity, and
please post your:
* OS (+service-pack-version)
* lmms version
* hardware specification (ram & soundcard is the most important)
* lmms sound device chosen
* the aforementioned sound-file, post it on soundcloud or a similar service

When exported and played, the sound file itself sounds fine, even if there is noise when being played in LMMS itself.
The noise is a general problem when playing sounds in LMMS rather than on a specific project/s.
I've just used it for about an hour with no noise, so I'm not sure what the difference is.

LMMS 1.3.3 latest one
I'm using Win 8
i-5 - 2537m 1.40 GHz
4gb RAM
Windows 8 x64
Doesn't seem to have a sound card - just says Intel Display Audion and Realtek High Definition Audio

Thats why i ask you to record the flawed output with Audacity, or similar program

Your HW is fine.

Do you run some messenger service simultaneous with lmms ?
Try this:

* shut down your pc completely
* rest for 1 min
* reboot the pc
* start lmms and test.
If you still have this issue :
* open task-manager and make a sceenshot of the running processes
post that screenshot here. I would like to see what you automatically invoke through the start menu

Have you checked that you use SDL as device in lmms?
