I also would like to know why I cannot save settings and why each time I start the program it shows me its settings window with all the options set back to default.

I had the same problem, both on Windows XP and on Windows 7.

I was able to resolve in by changing the audio interface from portaudio to SDL (Simple Directmedia layer):

Edit/Settings/Audio

This setting requires you to enter the driver name of your Directmedia audio driver.

You can find out this name by using the dxdiag program from the command line.

Thank you Philippe. Could you just tell me where I can find this Directmedia audio driver in the dxdiag panel? Is it the sound card driver e.g. RtkHDAud.sys located in the "Sound" tab?
