Lost In Space - My New Sad Song!

Share and discuss your LMMS music projects here, and see what people think!
It's been a while, I had school so it was hard to upload... but summer is coming up! Expect more tunes from me on that season! Also can you please suggest me some good video or written tutorials about effects you can put on instruments? Thanks!

A song all about the space and his darkness...

To be honest, I'm not really a fan of this song. I like the instrumentation, but it doesn't really follow a chord progression, or have a traditional key.

Now that wouldn't be an issue, but the arpeggios you put in definitely did have a key, and it clashed violently with the melody. There was also little variance.

I liked when you added in the bass line, but it was very sparse and could be added upon. Some harmony would serve this piece well.

Also, using only loops in the beat-bassline editor makes it difficult to put variation in your melody. Especially with a minimalist piece such as this, I'd recommend using the piano roll for some of the tracks.

Overall, I enjoyed your ideas, but they didn't reach their full potential. I am curious to see what you make in the future.

Keep creating!
I tend to agree with Dudeguy21, as far as clashing goes. I don't think you should scrap the whole thing by any means. However, it seems like it could use a lot of tweaking. As an example, change the main line up to where its in the same key as the arpeggios. Some sort of beat or timekeeper would also be nice but that might be a personal preference for me. Personally, I don't like the auto arpeggios; the lack of control and the randomness of it is unappealing to me.

As for effects, I don't really use many. Low/band/hi pass filters are always a plus. Started using the exciter and pulsator recently and they are kind of fun to mess with. All of these come with the program itself. As far as other instruments, you can find SF2 files on the internet that are really nice. I have some for piano work. LMMS has quiet a few instruments built into the preset/ZynAddSubFx folder on the left side of the screen.

When I started out, I watched a lot of Cubician's videos on YouTube.

Overall, not a bad track, but I wouldn't call it finished. Everything can use some fine tuning and changing. Keep it up!

Nice to see you got some useful advice already.
All this track needs, is some good old fixing up. :)

Advice: The arpeggio that plays from 1:17 secs all the way to the end, is out of key
with the melodies and instruments in this track.
I agree with Strawbeary jams, don't use the auto apeggio thingy.

I suggest, making the arpeggio from scratch, and changing the arpeggio starting note, to one that goes in key with all of the other melodies in this. :)

So far, it's a good track and nice to see you back again Domenico. :)

Thanks everyone for the advice... I'm sure I'll do a v2 on this track!
