My music is always very concentrated and not open.
The best example of what I mean by open is the sound at My Presets- Zynaddsubfx- Noises- Noise 2.
Right now, I've tried extra reverb, compression, turning a narrower to 0, stereoenhancer, chorus and echo. I can't seem to find that "open" sound in my music.

The best example : Noise 2.

Not 100% sure what 'open' means, but there are 3 characteristics for Noise 2
1) huge-reverb, but with Plate, and serious spread over freq.
2) long release
3) output diminish due to low-pass filtering

2) is only something you can use in 'one-shots'. Long release is not good in instruments, because frequencies will clash

'Open' is often used to describe the sound when the filter opens, but in Noise2 the filter is not open, it is 50% closed..

Here I have a great doubt.

I remember studying Unfa's instrus (a lot of good projects on the LSP).
One thing that often astonished me is that he put the Narrower on his drums with the strength parameter equal to 0.

I think it's useless.
It's like you're adding an Amplifier with the VOL equal to 100%.

With the Narrower, when the strength parameter is equal to 0, the signal is not changed.
When it is equal to 1, the signal becomes mono, centered, without stereo width.
From 0 to 1, you gradually reduce the stereo width of the signal, and you progressively center the signal.
Finally, the Narrower has no use on a mono and centered signal (by centered, I mean PAN = 0).

But maybe there is something I misunderstood?

I interpreted the word "open" in the sense of "stereophonically wide".
And "not open" would then be "stereophonically narrow", or perhaps "monophonic".

In this regard, how to understand "very concentrated"? Are all the instruments centered (PAN = 0)? (Well, in french, "to concentrate" and "to center" have the same etymological root, and for me the notion of "to center" is associated with PAN).

From there, I interpreted the problem of Durk1 as being a problem related to the stereo width.

However, you do well to notice that I may have misinterpreted what Durk1 wrote (well, again, now I interpret what you wrote).

But, to get back to the Narrower, whatever Durk1 meant, my doubt remains about any interest in "turning a narrower to 0". Is not it similar to adding an amplifier with VOL = 100%? ("similar" in the sense of useless)

Durk1, can you give more details about your problem?

Maybe "open" is to be understood in a more general spatial sense of left/right, front/back, up/down?

Sound of the preset Noise2 of the ZynAddSubFX reminds me of a remote object in a large resonant space.

Perhaps Durk1 seeks to enlarge the space in the sense of depth, which can open more space for the sound stage?
