I'm trying to get in a rhythm of being able to pump out a decent hip hop/trap beat without getting hung up on mistakes or polish.

Nice demo, but the blade of this katana seems rather fragile.
There is still a lot of space to invest. The string instrument seems a little lonely. You can play with the stereo, or play with reverb, or delay (eg the delayorama), etc. Or, you can also add other instruments, such as a discreet pad, etc. Or ...

good to hear. for the finished version, i planned on changing the melody on the second half of the song so it can better ,mesh with the sample
I mostly didn't add new instruments cause it was way too late and i didn't feel like searching through my computer
