What is difference between .mmp and .mmpz files?

From what I understand, the .mmpz files are compressed, they take up less space on the hard disk than .mmp files.

Regarding the depth of encoding, I believe without much certainty that you can choose 16bits for a definitive export, and prefer 24 or 32 bit if you still plan to work your tracks on another software. That's all I can say ...
