So, we have a game, it's called LilyPop and the plan is to create 15 soundtracks to deliver the story.

Before going to bigger stuffs, let's take baby steps. Have a look at the first track of the game and how it was made. The Facebook link is the track-in-the-making. The link on YouTube is the full version. This track is called: "Candy Man"..
Enjoy the eerie yet interesting vibe of the track *wink sexily twice*

Very recommended approach indeed
I hope your babysteps include detailed design documentation, 'vivid-imagery' for the object-system, and level-designs.
All done and perfected before even the very first line of code, has been even thought about.. (?)

Good idea not to depend on FB.

Then -the actual track
Game-music has indeed an important function as 'wibe' in a game! and yes, music can indeed tell a story.
In general, the music is there to enhance the gaming experience, so it should not dominate
I feel your track is leaning in a dominant direction, but without seeing parts of the level, it is not a valid critique.
The music points to a late 80 type of graphical style -Is that correct?
Have to ask you, if you are writing the music before making the game? That would be a 'novel' approach, and not sure it will benefit the process.
Out of curiosity, what program-language /platform are you using?

Game music? Cool!
The track has an interesting blend, of chiptune and melodious type music.
Nice usage of sounds in this tune.
I'm curious to want to find out, what type of game this music is for.

PS: As I saw the name Candyman, the first thing that came to mind
was the europop song Candyman, by a band called Aqua.
And another tune they made, called Bumblebee.

Yes indeed. Our game does have a plan, fine documentation, road-map xD It's just recently it's time for us to start talking about our music, because it's a key part of the game.. Like you said ...

Hmm, I would point out that the game has a pretty strong musical approach, so I wouldn't be so afraid to let the music dominate it.

Not really, although the character that this song about is actually a bit old haha.

Indeed a novel approach, but we did make the gameplay before coming into music. So music came later Especially when I was done with the lore, that's when the music came in strong.

Program-language: JAVA

Haha you're not the first one to mention Aqua when seeing the name. I actually took reference from Candyman of Christina Aguilera.
