So i recently i transferred my project files onto a new hard drive. I have all my downloaded instruments and drum kits in the same folders however when i play them they don't make a sound. But it still displays them regularly, why is this and is there any way that this can be fixed. right now is my only solution is to find the drums and instruments and put it back in manually but if there's a more automatic fix i would appreciate if you could help me out. thanks

Most likely the path to the Folder is different from the other install.

These path's need to point to the folders you're using.

Your own instruments is in your Projects folder
Alle the instruments that are shipped with LMMS eg Factory-files, they are in the Working-directory
Only one kind of file, will be a drag: soundfonts!
The reason is, that for tech sakes, these are hardcopied into your projects!

What i would like to know, before you go and fiddele with path and folders: Can you create a NEW project using only factory files, and does that has playback?
I suspect something else is wrong
