I followed a tutorial on how to use LMMS and i got pretty far with my first song, but i want to add another instrument. I double left click like the video told me too and what has been working for me for the past 4 instruments I've used and it wont load the piano for me to place the notes. It's been going like this for days and it's irritated me to the point where I almost un-downloaded it. please help so I can finish the song.

That indicate, that nothing was wrong with LMMS, but you have changed 'something'..
It is very difficult to figure out, what the problem is, without seeing any pictures, of the error-state, or getting a technical description of the issue.
My loose guess, would be, that your missing component is opened far to the right, eg outside your view -You could try and scroll out there, and look for it..

Perhaps the simplest solution is to re-install..

Follow these steps, and you should be good to go
*Back-up your own stuff
*Un-install current installation
*(re)move the config dot-file

LMMS 1.2.0 RC7 Orange buttons!
