LMMS and electric string instruments

Does LMMS allow electric string instruments as (audio) track input source? Mine are electric guitar and electric (tenor) banjo.
If the answer is yes, I could do with some help in making this work: this novice to LMMS (as well as to Linux Ubuntu, the platform on which I run it), just can't figure out how to do it. Hence, I'd be grateful if someone out there could explain to me (step-by-step, preferably) how to sort this out: in plain English please, since I'm not that much of an IT expert...
