Hey, does anyone know of any free alternatives to Massive? I hear it's really good with dubstep bass synths, but I can't afford to get massive. Anyone know of any way to get the same bass synths that you can make in Massive without having to get Massive? Thanks!

I just went to their site and listened, to some of the demo sounds, made in massive. Most of those cool sounds, can be made, with some of lmms's internal plugins, like
Triple Oscillator, and moreso with the monster plugin, called
ZynAddSubFX.
The
chiptune sounds and
bass sounds, can be made with
sfxr,
nescaline,
free boy etc.
These free 3rd party vst's below, can make alot of incredible sounds too:
Synth 1
T-Force Alpha Plus
Oatmeal
DSK OranZe
And there are lots more.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll need to look at some tutorials for the kind of bass I'm looking for, so I'll get to looking at those. Thanks again for the suggestion!

Do you have a link, to the kind of
bass sound, you're trying to make?

I'm looking to re-create the bass in this song.
https://soundcloud.com/skrillex/rock-n- ... 2/sets/edm. In specific, the bass used in the first drop.

Gimme a
time stamp. I wanna hear this
bass sound, you're speaking of.
eg.
23 secs etc.

0:52 secs is when the first drop is. I can recreate the more melodic sounds in there, but I can't wrap my head around how to recreate that bass.

its a '
tape-stop' effect, on a drill-bass
Drill-bass' you can get, from several sources -or you can make one. I have uploaded an Overwerk-bass om LSP.
Tape-stop can be made in several ways. Here is one:
