OK, so on LMMS, I'm trying to make the bass play high notes, but it won't let me play long notes. Is it possible to edit the sound to make it play long or longer on high notes? Or is there some other way to produce the same sound?

We do not.
Can you make a dummy-project/ recording, where this effect is demonstrated?

I just think
add some
* sustain
* set release = decay

short hits will use the release to end
long notes strays for the duration of sustain, and release ends them

weather they are high or low in register is transparent

Okay. Are you using a sample, or is this a sound, made in a plugin/vst synth?
